This just in: ComicCon Asia just formalized its partnerships with two signifcant local organizations that will help them strengthen their role in developing local talent and giving fans the best in manga & anime, comics, toys & gaming, movies, series & animation, and cosplay.
Raising the Local Standard
The Animation Council of the Philippines or the ACPI is a non-stock and non-profit organization whose member companies specialize mainly in, but not limited to, either 2D or 3D animation. Recognized and supported by the Philippine government, ACPI aims to promote the local Animation Industry globally with the intent of creating an identity for the Philippines as a preferred source of animation talent and services.
Part of ComicCon Asia’s collaboration with ACPI are linkages to industry speakers renowned in the sphere of art and animation. Another respected organization ComicCon Asia partnered with is GDAP or The Game Developers Association of the Philippines. GDAP is a trade association established in 2007 to represent and promote the country’s game development industry.
A Convention Like No Other
A two-day regional event filled with exciting new features that are sure to delight con-goers from all over Asia, ComicCon Asia 2018 happens on March 24 – 25 at the SMX Convention Center.
The main floor of ComicCon Asia 2018 will be divided into five zones: Manga & Anime, Comics & Literature, Toys & Gaming, Movies, Series & Animation, and Cosplay —five quadrants of vendors, sellers, galleries, and artists.
ComicCon Asia will also hold The Great Filipino Graphic Novel contest, a graphic novel competition where veteran comic artists review submissions and award the most exceptional of the bunch.
“A regional industry convention by heart, ComicCon Asia’s goal is to nurture and exhibit Filipino talent at its finest,” Pauline explains. For ComicCon Asia 2018, both GDAP and ACPI will conduct their own workshop sessions and will be part of the panel screening the entries for ComicCon Asia’s co-located idea pitching event called One Shot.
One Shot is designed to give undiscovered greats a chance to pitch their movie, tv series, animation, comic, gaming, manga, anime, and toy ideas to industry movers and shakers with the intent of having them critiqued and possibly funded.
