The fact that our country managed to produce immense talent from the likes of Oscar winning director Ronnie del Carmen of Pixar’s Inside Out fame, legendary Filipino-Japanese American Disney character animator Ruben Aquino, and Emmy-, Grammy-, Oscar-, and Tony-winning Frozen co-creator Robert Lopez, leads many to wonder just how ripe the potential of our current creators are and if they have what it takes to make it in the exciting and competitive world of video game and animation.
To see just how ready our creators are, ComicCon Asia, the two-day regional industry convention, joins one-stop incubator services company Startup Village, in scouring for the next best video game and animation concepts to take the world by storm with its co-located pitching event called One Shot.
A Once in a Lifetime Chance
An avenue for grooming and giving recognition to the best of local talent, One Shot offers participants a chance to pitch their concepts to Animation and Video Game experts, producers, talent scouts, creators, and venture capitalists, both in a regional and international scale.
ComicCon Asia business development consultant and StartUp Village founder Jay Bernardo shares that One Shot is an attempt to “offer creative Filipinos an avenue for showcasing their work, expanding their network, honing their expertise, and gaining insights from the industry’s best.”
It’s a chance for undiscovered greats to pitch their ideas to influential industry movers and shakers with the intent of having them critiqued and possibly funded. Open to all Filipino professionals, amateurs, and students, ages 18 years old and above, as groups or individuals, One Shot will have panelists deliberate over entries under a specific criterion, deciding which of them deserves to make it to the final pitch happening on March 24, 2018. Entries must be submitted by February 20, 2018, along with complete submission requirements. (Please see mechanics below for further info)
