This year at ComicCon Asia 2018, untapped talent across the Philippines will be able to rise from the crop and take their “One Shot” at launching the next big project in Video Games.
Submissions that will be able to pitch their efforts to a distinguished panel of industry leaders and kick-starting hub StartUp Village on March 24 will be chosen by a top-notch screening committee composed of pioneers in Pinoy gaming.
The screening committee will be helmed by Solon Chen, board member of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines and co-founder of Kooapps, the oldest full indie game development studio in the country; Rhea Valbuena, GDAP board director and Executive Director for the School of Computing and Information Technologies of Asia Pacific College; and Ria Lu, GDAP’s executive director and former CEO of Komikasi Games and Entertainment.
After winning over the screeners, chosen groups or individuals will face the final panel at the SMX Convention Center and pitch their projects.
The people to win over for their Video Game brainchildren are ABS-CBN’s Digital Media Division OIC-Head Elaine Uy, Globe Telecom’s Head of Games Jake San Diego, Most Played Games CEO and creator of hit mobile game Flippy Bottle Extreme Derrick Mapagu, Founder of Ubisoft Philippines and the only Filipino to run a AAA game development studio in the world Chip Go, President of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines and BOI’s Creative Services Industry Champion Alvin Juban, Senior Game Designer at Xurpas Edric Eser and Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia’s SEA General Manager Rainel Tan.
