Legendary comic book royalty Stan Lee is heading to ComicCon Asia 2018, a comic industry convention that features the best of the regions’ manga, anime, comics, toys, gaming, movies, series, cosplay, and more.
The 95-year-old superhero mastermind is set to drop by for meet-and-greets at the two-day convention happening on the 24thand the 25th of March at the SMX Convention Center, in Pasay, Manila.
A superhero in his own right, Stan Lee is known for breathing life to iconic characters like “Spiderman”, “X-Men”, and “The Avengers,” to name a few. Alongside artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Stan Lee is credited as one of the people who built the very foundation of comic book publishing powerhouse, Marvel.
His inspiring tale as a comic writer who started whipping out superhero ideas in the 1940s to leading Marvel’s expansion into a colossal multimedia corporation encouraged artists and storytellers alike, to follow suit and make a name for themselves in the industry of comics.
With Great Imagination, Comes Great Artistic Vision
“The magic of Marvel is very much alive in Stan Lee. We see him as a beacon of creative inspiration—a living proof that dreams can turn to reality by adding a dose of perseverance to one’s imagination,” ComicCon Asia event producer Pauline Sofia Laping shares.
Aside from being attributed as an associate producer to Marvel’s various blockbuster flicks, to which he enjoys appearing in elaborate cameos, Stan Lee gets a kick out of guesting at comic conventions, using it as an avenue for motivating hopefuls and fuelling their creative passions further.
Pauline adds that the comic book Generalissimo’s role is to “show fans what the industry behind creating a story looks like,”a major draw for budding artists, creators, storytellers, and superhero fanatics alike.
Lee leads a roster of industry luminaries in a convention that aims to shed light on the industry aspect of the creative trade. Joining him are other comic creators, illustrators, toy designers, and video game animators set to lead talks and seminars designed to show aspirants what it takes to make it in the big leagues.
A two-day regional event happening at the SMX Convention Center on March 24 – 25, ComicCon Asia2018 is where the best of the region’s comics, movies, series, manga, anime, toys, gaming, and cosplay all come together in a massive arena of fandom explosion!
Giving con-goers entertainment beyond the usual fan experience, ComicCon Asia will hold industry talks, panel discussions, and creative workshops led by renowned artists, creators, and producers from around the world, making it a regional industry convention geared at giving Filipino creators global exposure, guidance, and support.
